“ I've been here twice on the weekend for dinner, and got seated immediately both times. It can get busy, but I don't think you'll ever have to wait for a table. I like the aesthetic, particularly at night. It feels cozy and is a great place to hang, eat, and drink with friends (a pitcher of draft beer is $14!). The servers are nice and helpful, but there can be a language barrier if you're speaking English. You can just point at the menu when ordering, but be careful you don't accidentally point at the Chinese name for the dish below the one you want, like my bf did lol he wanted lamb spareribs and got pork feet...yikes! This was my first time trying Chinese skewers and I really enjoyed it. I like the concept of getting a few different skewers of different meats and veggies, instead of committing to whole dishes. A lot of the skewers, if not all, had the exact same seasoning on it though. The seasoning is good, but you need a variety of meats and veggies for flavor variety. Otherwise, it starts to get old fast. My second visit was way better than the first because I got a wider variety of skewers. I didn't get tired of any of the flavors at all! Food: SPICY SAUTÉED LAMB: The sauce has all the spice! If you have a piece on top that isn't touching it, it's not really spicy, but the pieces sitting in the sauce are very spicy! It had that dry heat that can make you cough, if you know what I'm talking about. It also had really good flavor, I really enjoyed it, but I wouldn't have been able to handle all that spice. HOUSE LAMB FRIED RICE: Good! The pieces of lamb were pretty small, but very tender. SPICY PORK FEET: Very fatty and flavorful! LAMB SKEWERS: Super tender and delicious!! TEPPAN GRILLED SQUID SHALL: I've never heard of squid shall, but I was hoping it was tentacles and I got lucky! This was spicier than the other skewers, but still good, chewy, and fresh! Highly recommend! GRILLED SIZZLING SQUID: This is the meaty head part of the squid they use for calamari rings. It was pretty big for a skewer! It also had the same seasoning that all the other skewers had, but it was seasoned more aggressively than the other skewers. I personally preferred the teppan grilled squid shall because I prefer the tentacles and it was easier to eat. GRILLED SCALLOPS: These looked good, but I couldn't even taste the scallops or noodles. The only thing I could taste was the excessive amount of garlic, as you can see in the picture. As a garlic lover, it was one of the only times in my life I thought something had too much garlic in it lol PORK KIDNEY: I thought this was okay, kinda dry and tough. Also served in slices. It looked like it might've been wrapped with bacon, which was a surprise. I wonder why they serve 4 of these skewers in an order, as opposed to 2. It was my least favorite one, so that was unfortunate. CHICKEN HEART: This was a little dry. It was also served in slices, so that's probably why. CHICKEN GIZZARD: Really good! Perfect chewy texture! PORK INTESTINE: So good!! Great fatty, chewy texture!! GRILLED BEEF TRIPE: Good! Exactly what I was hoping it'd be! BACON WRAPPED ENOKI MUSHROOM: I really liked it, but it's really hard to bite if you don't cut it. GRILLED CABBAGE: Good and spicy! FRIED BUTTER ROLLS: Mild and lightly sweet. More of a dessert. GRILLED BUN: I thought this was underwhelming. It had the same seasoning as almost everything else and there wasn't anything about it that made me want more. There are so many dishes/skewers to try, and definitely something for everybody. The difficult part is finding the dishes for you. If you find them though, they're spectacular! ”

“ We came here for dinner as a group and were seated right away. Located in the Jusgo shopping plaza. The parking was packed on a weekend night. They specialized in skewers but they have other main dishes as well. We ordered a couple of the skewers to try and other items: - Stone Age cheese sweet potatoes - Beef skewers - Pork kidney skewers - Lamb skewers - Numb and spicy pork spare ribs skewers - Grilled enoki skewers - Grilled king oyster mushroom skewers - Dry pot cauliflower with pork belly - Sautéed cabbage - Mapo tofu - Special grilled lamb spare ribs Service was friendly and the food was brought out quickly. The skewers came in 2 or 3 pieces but it will be indicated on the menu. My favorite was the lamb and beef skewers. The numb and spicy pork spare ribs skewers were quite spicy for me. Definitely has a numbing feeling to it. The special grilled lamb spare ribs were a standout item. Meat was tender and spice level wasn't bad. The mapo tofu and sautéed cabbage are were also great to share. Overall, we enjoyed everything we tried. ”

“ Found this new restaurant in China town that has really good street food! They had a wide variety of skewers, authentic Chinese dishes, and even a cold dish bar where you can get a variety of things. Service was great, they were quick to get our order and gave us some good suggestions as well. They also had Chinese KTV playing in the background which gave a nice vibe. Overall great experience, highly recommend! ”

“ Had a delicious late night dinner here. We ordered the grilled cabbage, cumin lamb, and beef skewers. Everything was so delicious and my favorite was the grilled cabbage. The charred bits on the cabbage combined with the soy sauce and spices make this a mouthwatering dish. The service was quick and as expected in a casual environment. ”

“ I always have room to try new restaurants in Bellaire! I really liked how the interior was decorated and well lit. I also appreciated how concise the menu was. Highlights of my meal were definitely the lamb and beef skewers. The meats were so tender and seasoned well. I was also really impressed by the grilled eggplant. It was cooked to perfection and topped off with so many different spices. Overall, I had a great experience at this spot. The skewers were delicious, and the service was quick. I am looking forward to coming here again in the future! ”

“ What a gem! Was visiting Houston for the first time and came across this place on google and so happy I did! First off, I love the decor lol. But to the important part, the food! So so delicious and I wish they were in Austin. Fyi, they normally don't have skewers during lunch (when we went), but they were super kind to make us some! The skewers were so delicious. We got an assortment and they all came out hot and flavorful. Honestly can't go wrong with any of them. We also ordered some entree items such as the beef fried rice, the beef noodle soup, and vegetables. We loved every single item which is rare when ordering so much food. “ I always want to try new restaurants whenever they just opened in Houston Chinatown. Stone Age Street Food 石器时代大排檔 is the newest addition to Metropole Center, next to Jusgo Supermarket. By looking at the menu, I couldn't figure out what region of food this restaurant serves. So, I decided to try it in person. I think it qualifies "street food" because of style of cooking. Skewers, pots, sizzling plates and stir fry dishes are the indications of street vendors dishes. There's a restaurant that serves similar food at the same building. I wonder if they would compliment each other. I'm not too concerned about that. All I want is to have a good time eating good food. Service was fast. Shortly after I started eating, there were other customers walking in to fill up half of the restaurant, plus few tables on the other side. That's a welcoming sign for prosperity. I ordered Special Grilled Lamb Short ribs 酥烤羊排 and Dough Drop & Assorted Veg Soup 疙瘩汤 initially. Then, I added Grilled Cabbage 烤包菜 because I need vegetables in my diet. Everything was so delicious. The lamb was served on a wood cutting board. The ribs were tender and topped with spicy mixture of dry peppers, fried garlic, fresh scallions, crushed peanuts and other savory spices. This was not as spicy hot as I thought. The soup was very flavorful. It was thick and filled with inconsistent shaped dough drops. This type of noodles soup is a rare find in Chinatown. Last time I had it was at Kuen Noodle House, but it closed. The restaurant seemed to have an internet app controlled TV playing live music videos. Because music kept getting interrupted like someone was browsing through the menu. I would come back to try other dishes after it officially opened. I felt great after finished everything in one meal. ”
